BREAKING: VDM announces social media break, cite reasons

Social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has announced that he is temporarily stepping away from all social media platforms.

He made this known in a video he posted on his Instagram page, where he explained the reason behind his decision.

According to him, some people have accused him of distracting Nigerian youths from focusing on important national issues, especially the demand for government accountability and better governance.

VDM said that because of these accusations, he has decided to take a break from posting online so that young people in Nigeria can focus more on civic responsibilities, protests, and holding leaders accountable without distraction.

He stated:

“I have decided not to post on social media for now because of the accusations that my posts are distracting Nigerian youths from holding the government accountable.”

He added that his withdrawal is intentional and meant to create space for other voices to take the lead in public discussions and activism.

VDM also challenged other influencers, celebrities, and activists to use this opportunity to speak up more and stay active while he steps back.

He further explained that his break covers all major platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, meaning he will not be posting or engaging on any of them for now.

Speaking in Pidgin English, he emphasized that his decision is total and not partial, stressing that he is fully stepping away from social media activities during this period.

He said he believes it is important for others to take responsibility and continue pushing for social awareness and accountability in the country.

VDM concluded by saying he is giving space for others to lead the conversation and that he will remain off social media until further notice.
