Wolverhampton Wanderers have been relegated from the Premier League after a miserable campaign that saw the club struggle from start to finish.

Their fate was confirmed following a goalless draw between West Ham United and Crystal Palace, a result that left Wolves mathematically unable to escape the drop zone with just five matches remaining.

The Midlands club sit 16 points adrift of safety after 33 matches, making survival impossible and ending their eight-year stay in England’s top flight.

Wolves’ relegation had long appeared inevitable after a disastrous start to the season, during which they failed to win any of their opening 19 matches, one of the worst runs in Premier League history.

The team managed just three wins all season and accumulated only 17 points, spending virtually the entire campaign rooted to the bottom of the table.

Managerial instability also contributed to their downfall. Vítor Pereira, who began the season in charge, was sacked in November following a poor run of results, with Rob Edwards brought in as his replacement. However, despite some improvement, Edwards was unable to rescue the club from relegation.

Although Wolves recorded a few notable victories later in the season, including wins against stronger opponents, their overall inconsistency and defensive frailties proved costly.

Their relegation marks a sharp decline for a club that had enjoyed relative success in recent years, including back-to-back seventh-place finishes and participation in European competitions.

With demotion to the Championship now confirmed, Wolves face a major rebuilding task, with expectations of squad changes and possible departures as they prepare for life outside the Premier League.
