Nigeria’s Super Falcons are still the top women’s football team in Africa and have moved up to 36th place in the latest FIFA world rankings.

The team improved slightly from 37th position in December 2025 after playing two friendly matches against Cameroon. They lost the first game 1–0 in February but bounced back to win the second match 3–1 in March.

In the second game, Chinwendu Ihezuo scored Nigeria’s first goal in the 32nd minute with a header from a cross by Rinsola Babajide. Just before halftime, Babajide scored another goal to give Nigeria a 2–1 lead.

Michelle Alozie added the third goal in the 64th minute with a header from a cross by team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, sealing the 3–1 victory.

The better performance helped Nigeria gain 3.35 ranking points, bringing their total to 1602 points in April.

Nigeria remains clearly ahead of other African teams. South Africa, Ghana, and Morocco are ranked 58th, 59th, and 62nd in the world.

Globally, Spain is still number one, followed by the United States, England, Germany, and Japan.
