Speaking in a recent episode of the ‘Echo Room’ podcast, hosted by former BBNaija housemate Teddy A, Laycon shared that his mother was gravely ill before he entered the BBNaija house.

Nigerian rapper and 2020 Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) winner, Olamilekan “Laycon” Agbeleshebioba, has revealed that his victory in the reality show played a pivotal role in saving his mother’s life.

Speaking in a recent episode of the ‘Echo Room’ podcast, hosted by former BBNaija housemate Teddy A, Laycon shared that his mother was gravely ill before he entered the BBNaija house.

However, her condition worsened significantly during his time in the house, unbeknownst to him.

“When I was in the house, my mum was ill,” Laycon recalled. “By the time I came out, my mum was close to death.”

The 32-year-old rapper emphasized that had he finished as the runner-up, the outcome for his family could have been tragic.

“I am saying it categorically now, if I didn’t win that show, if I had gone and came back second, my mum would be dead now,” he said.

Laycon, who rose to fame after clinching victory in BBNaija 2020, later went on to release his long-awaited mixtape “Kashimaawoo,” which was deeply personal and dedicated to his late father.

The reality star had previously revealed that the weight of his victory caused him to lose his “inner voice,” making his journey after BBNaija even more challenging.
