Dan Ulasi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, has spoken up on the leadership of the party, stating that he believes the PDP has a problem.

While speaking with Arise TV on Thursday, Ulasi expressed his disappointment for the current state of things at the PDP. He explained that the party lacked the capacity to mount a credible challenge against President Bola Tinubu in 2027 with Nyesom Wike as the leader.

“And when I look at the party, you know, when I started saying, I said the party, PDP, has a problem. We’re a faction, and I don’t see how a candidate with credibility will emerge to stop Tinubu. And the process Wike is going through also will not help the system. So I don’t see my party as presently constituted challenging Tinubu with Wike as national leader. These are part of the contradictions, which if I’m not properly informed and explained to, I will leave the party. And I want to be quoted accurately,” he stated.

Ulasi also lauded Peter Obi for his vision for the country, adding that conversing with the former governor of Anambra state gives him hope for the country.

“If you listen to Peter Obi one-on-one, you will have hope for this country. You will have tremendous hope that somebody has a concept of what he wants to do and how he will do it for the overall benefit of our people. He just gave me about 30 minutes’ notice that he was coming. And I called a couple of my friends, some top Southeasterners who were in town. And they came. I’ve known him since I was chairman of the National Republican Convention when he ran for governorship in Anambra State. And since then, this year alone, he’s been to my house about four times,” he added.
