Emir Sanusi approves Dikko Umar’s appointment as Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idanawa

Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has endorsed the appointment of retired Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar as the Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idanawa.

The appointment which took effect on Wednesday, 22nd of April, 2026, was announced in an official letter signed by Aliyu Ibrahim Ahmed, the Matawallen Kano and Senior Councilor of the Kano Emirate Council.

The new development came after the death of late Alhaji Abubakar Gwadabe Buhari, the former titleholder, who passed away on April 14, 2026.

“His Highness congratulates you and hopes that you will use your wealth of experience to contribute to the development of Kano Emirate and Kano State,” the letter read.

The Emir offered prayers for the new titleholder, Dikko Umar as he takes on his new responsibilities.
