Half a Million Participants Expected at Osun-Osogbo Festival

Organisers of the Osun-Osogbo Festival say about 500,000 people are expected to attend the 2026 edition.
The festival will take place from July 27 to August 7 in Osogbo.
According to Oyindamola Olukanni, media head of the festival’s marketing consultant, the event is gaining more global attention. He said the festival has been celebrated continuously for over 600 years and remains a living cultural tradition.
The 2026 theme is “Preserving Heritage, Inspiring the Future.” It highlights the importance of tradition in shaping modern society.
A key part of the festival is the Osun Sacred Grove, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is one of the few places where culture, spirituality, and nature still exist together.
Olukanni explained that the festival is not just an old tradition but a culture that has remained active through generations.
