Title race heats up as Osimhen escapes disqualification threat

Victor Osimhen will be allowed to play in the big Istanbul derby despite an attempt by Fenerbahçe to stop him.

Fenerbahçe had asked the Turkish Football Federation to disqualify Osimhen, claiming that the protective arm guard he wears could be dangerous to other players. They referred to football rules and submitted a report to support their complaint.

However, the request was rejected. Osimhen has now been cleared to play for Galatasaray in the important league match.

The Nigerian striker recently returned from an arm injury he suffered during a Champions League game against Liverpool FC. He had surgery and made a short comeback appearance in a cup match, where he felt no pain.

Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk has decided to start Osimhen in the derby. Meanwhile, striker Mauro Icardi is expected to begin on the bench.
