Apapa Cup Kicks Off
The first edition of Apapa Football competition kicked off last Saturday at the Apapa football pitch, Lagos.
Mr. Muyiwa Jimoh, who is representing Apapa Iganmu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, is bankrolling the competition that involved seven wards in his constituency including All Stars team.
In the fixtures made available to GSG, group A consists of Ward B,C,D & All Star team, while Group B includes ward A.E.F & G.
In the opening match played last weekend, Ward B defeated All Star 2-1.
In other results, Ward A played barren draw with Ward G, Ward C lost 0-1 to Ward D and Ward F humbled Ward E 2-0 in the last match of the day.
According to Jimoh, the competition is organised to foster friendly relationship, unity and peaceful coexistence among the youth in the LCDA.
He said he was impressed with the organisation and standard of play by the participating teams, reiterating that the competition has achieved its aims.
He also commended the ACN party leaders, wards councilors and the youth for their support for the smooth organisation of the tournament.
“I must commend the sponsor and everybody that contributed one way or the other to make sure that the tourney began after series of challenges. I will urge the players to abide by the rules and regulations of the game throughout the tournament,” he said.
Match Coordinator, Alhaji El -Amin Aratumi, promised to give their best and ensure that all teams are treated equally throughout the championship.
Action continues this Saturday when Ward D will face Ward A while ward B will face Ward E in the second match of the day.
