Music is beyond entertaining, it is a tool – Bella Shmurda

Nigerian singer Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, popularly known as Bella Shmurda has spoken on being conscious of the power of music.

The 30-year-old artist, while speaking on the For Bunmi documentary, explained that music is more than just a means of entertainment but a tool for the society. Shmurda added that his new understanding of music and its power makes him more conscious about the kind of music he makes.

“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for the society. Music is a tool of progress. Music is an instrument of goodwill. Music is a tool to keep people sane, to put them in the right state of mind, to make them dance away their sorrow, and to make them feel alive and self-conscious,” he explained.

He also disclosed that he is now more conscious about the kind of music he makes because he wants his children to be proud of his music when they grow up.
