Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is planning to travel to the United States to raise concerns about Nigeria’s security situation, economic struggles, and governance issues.
His media adviser, Paul Ibe, shared this in a statement on Sunday. He said Atiku will meet with policy and institutional stakeholders in the US during the visit.
According to the statement, Nigeria is facing a serious internal crisis that should not be ignored or politicised. Atiku pointed to ongoing violence in the North-West and North-East, continued killings in the Middle Belt, and the rise in kidnapping and crime across the country.
He warned that the government is gradually losing control of its main duty, which is to protect lives and property.
He added that the situation is no longer just isolated incidents but a widespread problem, with communities being attacked, livelihoods destroyed, and citizens left unprotected.
Atiku also said that any government that cannot ensure the safety of its people loses the moral right to lead.
