Why I stopped attending church – Funke Akindele

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has explained why she no longer attends church in person, which has sparked reactions from her fans.

In a video she shared on Snapchat on Sunday morning, the actress said she now prefers to worship from home. She spoke while preparing breakfast for her children before they went to church.

Akindele said the main reason for her decision is that church media teams often point cameras at her during services, making her feel uncomfortable and distracted.

She said, “I don’t go to church anymore. Anytime I attend, they keep taking pictures of me. So I prefer to join online, make breakfast, and work on my projects.”

She added that although her children still go to church physically, she prefers to stay home, where she can worship peacefully and also focus on her movie work.
