Oriyomi Hamzat, the Accord Party's gubernatorial aspirant for Oyo State, has made a bold declaration, asserting that he will not step down for any opponent in the 2027 election.

Accord Party gubernatorial aspirant Oriyomi Hamzat has dismissed circulating rumours that he might step down for a rival in the 2027 Oyo State governorship race, insisting he will remain in the contest.

Speaking at a recent gathering where he addressed supporters, Hamzat said, “People should stop asking me if I am going to step down for anybody, because I am not! While it is clear there may be some permutations, it is certain: Oriyomi is the next Governor of Oyo State.”

Hamzat’s remarks come as his campaign gains traction following his formal entry into the race earlier this year. The media entrepreneur and founder of Agidigbo 88.7 FM announced his governorship ambition on January 17, 2026, at a rally in Ibadan, where he confirmed his decision to contest the 2027 governorship election on the Accord Party platform.

At his declaration event, Hamzat said his move into partisan politics was driven by what he described as a “divine calling” and the persistent calls of ordinary citizens urging him to serve the state.

He pledged to focus on people‑centred leadership and promised to implement programmes aimed at improving lives and expanding opportunities for youths and women across Oyo State
