A Federal high court sitting in Lagos has adjourned till 10th of July 2026 for the continuation of trial of a Lagos businessman GOD’POWER PHILLIP ODIETE, alleged to have conspired with two other persons now at large to import 13.5 kilogrammes of Cannabis.

The defendant is facing two-count charge of alleged conspiracy and importation of Cannabis.

The NDLEA Prosecuting counsel Barrister F. S Ajagu after leading her second prosecution witness in evidence, told the court that she intends to call four more witnesses before closing her case. The defence counsel Chief Dennis Warri did not raise any objection.

Thereafter, the presiding Judge, Justice Daniel Osiagor adjourned the case to 10th of July 2026 for continuation of trial.

The two-count charge as filed before the court by the NDLEA senior prosecuting counsel Barrister Adekumle Adebajo are as follows:

COUNT 1

That you GOD’SPOWER PHILLIP ODIETE, Male, Adult on or about the 17th day of May 2024 at Tincan Island Port, Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court without lawful authority conspired with VICTOR ADDAH and EJIMNKOYE LIVINUS (both at large) to import 13.5 Kilogrammes of Cannabis indica, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, Heroin and LSD and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 14(b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

COUNT 2
That you GOD’SPOWER PHILLIP ODIETE, Male, Adult on or about the 17th day of May 2024 at Tincan Island Port, Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court without lawful authority imported 13.5 Kilogrammes of Cannabis Indica, a narcotic drug similar to Cocaine, Heroin and LSD and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 11(a) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
