if your 'daughter' now has to tell you who to work for in 2027, then perhaps she, who obviously knows better than you, according to your own postulation, should be the one running for President, he told Kwankwaso.

Opposition leader and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has come under fire from Omoyele Sowore, following Kwankwaso’s revelation that his daughter advised him to work with Peter Obi ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

In an exclusive interview with Arise Television on May 11, Kwankwaso disclosed that, while reflecting on Nigeria’s evolving political landscape, his daughter, during the 2023 elections, encouraged him to form an alliance with the Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

Kwankwaso, speaking candidly, remarked: “So many things have changed in this country. We have leaders who are stuck in their old ways, failing to adapt to the rapid political changes, particularly the rise of younger Nigerians.”

He further noted the generational divide in Nigerian politics, suggesting that the older generation is often disconnected from younger people and the growing influence of social media. “Leaders now have supporters spread across the world. The younger people have their own way of thinking, more interested in competence and good governance, rather than the politics of religion and ethnicity,” Kwankwaso said.

Reflecting on his daughter’s role in his political journey, Kwankwaso added, “In the 2023 election, in my own house, my own daughter was telling me to go and work with Peter Obi. She didn’t even say she was Obidient, but she wanted me to work together with him.”

However, Sowore, the presidential candidate for the AAC (African Action Congress), wasted no time in criticizing Kwankwaso’s reliance on his daughter’s advice, branding the former governor as politically “atrophied” and out of touch with the current political climate.

Sowore, a vocal critic of many establishment politicians, responded sharply on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Mr. @KwankwasoRM, if your ‘daughter’ now has to tell you who to work for in 2027, then perhaps she, who obviously knows better than you, according to your own postulation, should be the one running for President. Clearly, you have become politically atrophied. Liars shall not make heaven! #AACOurParty.”
