2027: ‘Atiku, you’re a hypocrite’ – Rufai Oseni

“Is it not the same Atiku who went to court in 2011 to contest the PDP’s zoning formula, ensuring that the party followed its arrangement? The courts even acknowledged the zoning arrangement, though they could not make a ruling on it,” Oseni remarked.
Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of hypocrisy, particularly regarding his stance on zoning.
In a recent interview on Arise Television, Oseni criticized Atiku for supporting zoning when it aligns with his personal interests, but opposing it when it doesn’t benefit him. Oseni was discussing the ongoing debates about zoning as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.
“Atiku Abubakar needs to stop being hypocritical. When zoning works in his favour, there’s no issue, but as soon as it goes against him, he suddenly declares it self-defeating,” Oseni said.
He went on to point out Atiku’s past actions, particularly in 2011, when Atiku challenged the zoning arrangement within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in court, following the candidacy of Goodluck Jonathan.
“Is it not the same Atiku who went to court in 2011 to contest the PDP’s zoning formula, ensuring that the party followed its arrangement? The courts even acknowledged the zoning arrangement, though they could not make a ruling on it,” Oseni remarked.
He also referenced Atiku’s departure from Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration in 2007, questioning how Atiku’s approach to zoning had changed over time.
Oseni’s comments highlight the ongoing debate surrounding zoning and its role in shaping the country’s political future, with Atiku’s actions continuing to stir controversy.
