Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised serious allegations against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governors, accusing them of diverting public funds for political campaigns, both for the party’s primary elections and the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised serious allegations against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governors, accusing them of diverting public funds for political campaigns, both for the party’s primary elections and the upcoming 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku claimed that the APC-led government, under President Bola Tinubu, is colluding with state governors to funnel public resources into “dedicated accounts” meant for the president’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Atiku, in his statement, stressed that the alleged diversion of funds was worsening the already challenging economic situation, insecurity, and poverty across Nigeria. He stated that the citizens of the country were bearing the consequences of what he described as the mismanagement of national resources.

“The Tinubu-led APC administration is in cahoots with APC governors to divert your resources to dedicated accounts for Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign,” Atiku said, highlighting that the funds which should be used for governance and public welfare were being redirected for political purposes.

Atiku further pointed out that internal disputes within the APC Governors’ Forum, particularly regarding the handling of Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds, were linked to disagreements over access to and management of the alleged diverted funds.
