Africa Illustrious Awards 2026 set for Lagos, to honour Africa’s finest minds & icons

Lagos is set to host the 7th edition of the prestigious Africa Illustrious Awards as prominent personalities from across the continent prepare to gather for a celebration of excellence, leadership, and transformational impact.

The award ceremony is scheduled for June 6, 2026, at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, with guests expected from Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Algeria, Egypt, and other African countries.

Organisers say the event will bring together some of Africa’s finest minds and respected figures whose contributions in business, innovation, entrepreneurship, academia, technology, philanthropy, leadership, and public service have continued to shape development across the continent.

The ceremony is also expected to feature special recognition for the 1994 Super Eagles squad and the 1996 Nigerian Olympic football team for their historic achievements and contributions to the global growth of African football.

According to the organisers, the recognition is intended to celebrate the legacy of both teams, whose performances inspired millions of Africans and helped put Nigerian football on the world stage.

Over the years, the Africa Illustrious Awards has grown into one of the continent’s notable platforms dedicated to honouring individuals, brands, and institutions making a significant impact in their respective fields.

The organisers added that this year’s edition will further spotlight excellence, visionary leadership, and achievements contributing to Africa’s global reputation and development.
