Fresh Fear In Kano As Police Discover More Explosives
The latest discovery of abandoned explosives in parts of Kano city, Northwest Nigeria, confirms the fear that the Boko Haram sect are yet to unleash their worst attack on Kano.
This evening police found and defused bombs in parts of the city. The development has sparked intense fear among residents of the ancient city.
Already, the state Police Command has found six bomb-laden vehicles which have been moved to their headquarters where they were defused according to sources attached to the Bompai Headquarters of the Kano Police Command.
The intercepted vehicles included Honda Hennesy, two brand new red-colour Hilux, two vespa and Honda CRV.
They were at different locations within the state capital, and a police source revealed that all the vehicles had their keys attached to the ignition, and the suspicion is that it has been programmed for explosion as soon as the keys are turn-on.
It is gathered that the bombs which were fully loaded in the vehicles were abandoned, some at the Sheka, Tchama, the AIG’s residence at Bompai area and Mariri.
As at the time of filing this report, the Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Idris, could not be reached for comment as he did not pick calls put across to him by our correspondent, but an officer attached to his office confirmed the development.
