Tijjani Galadima has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State after recording a decisive victory in the party’s primary election.

Galadima secured 414,444 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abdulrazak Namdas, who polled 86,004 votes, while Abdulrahaman Haske garnered 65,934 votes in the exercise conducted in Yola on Friday.

Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Prof. Innocent Barikor, announced the result, declaring Galadima winner after scoring the highest number of valid votes cast and fulfilling all requirements stipulated by the party.

“Having satisfied the party’s requirements, Galadima is hereby declared winner,” Barikor stated while announcing the results before representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, members of the appeal committee, party officials and other stakeholders.

The primary election is seen as a major political milestone ahead of the 2027 governorship contest in Adamawa State, with party leaders describing the exercise as peaceful and credible.

In his acceptance speech, Galadima expressed appreciation to APC members and supporters for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to work towards strengthening the party ahead of the general election.

He also commended key stakeholders within the party for ensuring what he described as a level playing field during the primary process.

The former Petroleum Technology Development Fund boss specifically praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for his role in promoting fairness and stability throughout the exercise.

Galadima further thanked aspirants who stepped down for him before the election and appealed for unity among party members as the APC prepares for the 2027 governorship battle in the state.

Political observers say the outcome of the primary has positioned Galadima as one of the leading contenders in the forthcoming Adamawa governorship election, expected to attract intense political competition.
