Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election in Lagos State as peaceful, transparent and orderly, saying the exercise reflected growing confidence in the leadership of Bola Tinubu.

Hamzat, who participated in the exercise at Ward A4, Ansar-Ud-Deen Primary School in Epe Local Government Area, commended party members for their discipline and massive turnout during the direct primary conducted under the Option A4 voting system.

Speaking with journalists after voting, the deputy governor said the exercise was conducted smoothly without any form of disruption, noting that accreditation, voting and counting processes were completed peacefully.

“The process has been very peaceful and orderly. People came out very early, accreditation was conducted promptly, voting took place peacefully, votes were counted, and we are all heading home satisfied,” he said.

Explaining the process, Hamzat stated that the primary followed the same transparent Option A4 method previously adopted by the party during House of Assembly, National Assembly and governorship primaries.

According to him, party members openly queued behind the posters of their preferred candidates during voting.

“It is what we all refer to in Nigeria as the Option A4 system where members queue openly behind the banner of their preferred candidate,” he explained.

“In this case, we had two candidates-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and another aspirant. At this ward, all votes were cast in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while the other aspirant recorded no vote.”

Hamzat said the impressive turnout witnessed during the exercise demonstrated the enthusiasm and commitment of APC members to the party’s democratic process.

He added that voting and counting were conducted transparently, while results from various wards would be collated at local government levels before being transmitted to the party’s national secretariat.

The deputy governor noted that reports from across the country also indicated encouraging participation by APC members nationwide.

He further stated that the overwhelming support recorded for Tinubu reflected the trust and confidence party faithful had in the President’s leadership and developmental vision for the country.

Hamzat maintained that the conduct of the exercise in his ward met acceptable democratic standards of openness, credibility and fairness.

“The election in our ward was peaceful and transparent. Members arrived early, accreditation was conducted successfully, votes were counted openly, and everyone expressed satisfaction with the process,” he added.
