EPL: Haaland wins Golden Boot again
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been crowned the Premier League’s top scorer for the 2025/2026 season, clinching his third Golden Boot in four years despite missing the final match of the campaign.
The Norwegian forward, who was rested for City’s 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, finished the season with 27 goals in 35 league appearances.
His tally was enough to see off Brentford’s Igor Thiago, who came second with 22 goals and has since earned a call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad.
Haaland now joins Premier League greats Alan Shearer and Harry Kane as a three-time Golden Boot winner, and moves closer to Thierry Henry and Mohamed Salah, who have both won the award four times.
The City striker started the season in explosive form, scoring 19 goals in his first 17 matches, before a mid-season dip saw him net just once in a seven-game stretch around the turn of the year.
That dry spell coincided with a difficult period for Pep Guardiola’s side, who lost key ground in the title race during that run.
However, Haaland bounced back strongly in the final stretch of the season, scoring crucial goals against Liverpool and Arsenal, including a decisive strike in the high-stakes clash that shaped the title race.
Despite his efforts, City ultimately dropped points against Everton and Bournemouth, allowing Arsenal to secure their first Premier League title in 22 years.
Haaland’s individual brilliance, however, ensured he ended the campaign as the league’s standout scorer once again as Guardiola’s decade-long reign at the Etihad came to a close.
