Eid-el-Kabir: NSCDC deploys 4000 personnel to secure FCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command has deployed no fewer than 4,000 personnel to provide security in the territory as Muslims celebrate Sallah.

A statement by the command’s Spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, on Monday in Abuja, revealed that the deployed personnel were to ensure a peaceful celebration across the territory.

Ojobi stated that the NSCDC FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, had directed all operatives to be positioned at all volatile and soft target areas of the FCT.

“Black spots like uncompleted buildings that harbour criminals should also be properly covered to avert security breaches,” Odumosu directed.

Odumosu said that the deployed personnel cuts across specialised departments and units of the corps, such as: the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, crack squad and Agro Rangers.

“In order to forestall surprises from criminals and bandit who may want to plant explosives to disrupt the celebration, I have massively deployed undercover men of Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosive (CBRNE),” he said.

He called on all Division Officers and Area Commanders to ensure their jurisdictions are protected.

“As usual, I will not tolerate any form of security breaches, all hands must be on deck, ensure your personnel comply wholesomely,” the commandant said.

He advised operatives to comply to all rules of engagement while working in synergy with sister security agencies.

The FCT boss also urged FCT residents to be vigilant and not hesitate to report any suspicious movement or activity by individual or groups to any security agency closest to them.

“Avoid commuting in commercial vehicles with tinted glasses; especially stop and pick vehicles by the road side to avoid being victims of one chance or kidnappers,” Odumosu advised.
