The Kogi chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned the killing of pastoralists in Ankpa Local Government Area, describing the attack as barbaric.
The condemnation is contained in a statement issued on Monday in Lokoja by the association’s state secretary, Mr Suleiman Muhammed.
Muhammed said the association was deeply saddened and outraged by the killing of innocent men, women and children during the incident.
He identified the victims as Isiaka Lawal, Larai Musa, Abdullahi Isiaka, Isah Isiaka, Saleh Isiaka, Samsiya Adamu, Asma’u Siuni, Basullube Musa and Bello Musa.
Muhammed also confirmed that Husseini Haruna, Abdullahi Abdullahi and Sa’ida Haruna sustained injuries during the attack.
He urged security agencies to immediately investigate the incident, arrest those responsible and ensure justice for the victims.
“MACBAN condemns this barbaric act in the strongest terms and calls on security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,” he said.
Muhammed warned that continued attacks on innocent pastoral communities could heighten tensions among peaceful residents.
He extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
The association appealed to governments, humanitarian organisations and relevant authorities to provide urgent relief materials and medical assistance to affected families.
Muhammed urged pastoralists and residents of the area to remain calm and law-abiding while investigations continued.
He stressed that the sanctity of human life must always be protected, regardless of ethnicity, religion or occupation.
“Nigeria belongs to all citizens, and every Nigerian deserves equal protection under the law,” he said. (NAN)
