CDCThe Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed more than 56,000 personnel across the country ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

The deployment was ordered by the Commandant General of the corps, Ahmed Audi, as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure festive period.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, the corps said operatives had been directed to provide security at prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets and other public places expected to witness large gatherings during the celebrations.

The statement added that specialised units, including the Rapid Response Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, Mining Marshals and Crack Squad, had also been placed on high alert to tackle any possible security threats.

According to the corps, operational vehicles, ambulances, patrol motorcycles, boats and K9 units have been mobilised to support surveillance and emergency response operations nationwide.

Audi urged commanders across the federation to maintain professionalism and collaborate with other security agencies to safeguard lives, property and critical national infrastructure.

He also advised residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel throughout the festive season.
