Eid celebration: Osun CP greets Muslims, assures of adequate security

The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Police Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, mnips, has sent a goodwill message to Muslims on the occasion of Eid and assured the general public that all necessary security measures have been put in place to ensure secure, peaceful and hitch-free 2026 Eid-el Kabir celebration.

He re-assured people of the state on “the readiness and preparedness of the command to guarantee safety of lives and property as he has deployed both human and other operational assets to carry out confidence building and crime prevention patrols at all entering/ exit points, highways, places of worship, public resort/ recreation centres, parks and other critical infrastructures during this season and beyond.

The CP made this known in an Eid message to residents of Osun on Tuesday which was signed on his behalf by the command’s PPRO, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi.

The statement added that: “All citizens of Osun State are therefore enjoined to comport themselves in accordance with the extant laws and go about their celebrations without hindrances.

“In the event of distress or suspicious activities, the following lines are open for members of the public to give actionable and timely information to the Police via: 08039537995 or report such matter to the nearest Police Station.

“Furthermore, members of the public are to cooperate with the personnel deployed for this assignment as they have been warned to be professional, civil, and respect the fundamental rights of the citizens and discharge their duties with utmost sense of calmness and alertness.

“Finally, the CP wishes all Muslim faithful and visitors to the state a joyous and peaceful celebration.”
