The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has declared former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
Obi was announced as the party’s candidate at the NDC Special Convention held in Abuja.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the party’s presidential primary election conducted across the country.
Before the declaration, Obi arrived at the convention venue alongside the NDC National Chairman, Seriake Dickson, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Obi and Kwankwaso recently joined the NDC after leaving the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
They reportedly dumped the ADC over internal divisions and court cases affecting the party.
Obi was the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election.
