The Kano State Government has introduced free daily transport services for its pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, providing easier access to the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

The scheme began after the Day of Arafat and is designed to help pilgrims, particularly the elderly, travel conveniently between their accommodation and Masjid Al-Haram for daily prayers.

Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Matawalle, said the initiative forms part of the state’s efforts to improve the welfare and spiritual experience of pilgrims during their stay in the Holy Land.

According to him, eight buses with a capacity of more than 50 passengers each have been assigned to various pilgrims’ lodgings to ensure smooth movement to and from the mosque.

The transportation service was officially launched by the Amirul Hajj and Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, who said the arrangement would allow pilgrims to devote more time to worship without the burden of transportation challenges.

Meanwhile, Hajj officials have also begun organising pilgrims’ luggage ahead of their return to Nigeria. Pilgrims were reminded to comply with baggage regulations, which permit two bags weighing up to 23 kilogrammes each.
