Wike rejects US property allegation, dares Sowore
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said there is nothing wrong with owning a house in the United States and that no law forbids it.
Wike made the statement while responding to allegations by activist Omoyele Sowore during his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Monday.
The minister accused Sowore of spreading unverified claims about government officials. He questioned why Sowore had not provided evidence for his earlier allegation that he owns properties in Florida.
According to Wike, people should not make accusations without proof. He maintained that while there is no law preventing him from owning property abroad, he does not own a house in the United States.
Wike said: “Sowore has continued to make different claims, including saying I own houses in Florida. If that is true, where is the evidence? It is not right to spread rumours about public officials. There is no law stopping me from owning a house anywhere in the world, but I do not have a house there.”
