Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has opened up about the emotional and financial sacrifices she made as a single mother while celebrating her son’s graduation from a university in Canada.

The actress, popularly known as Omoborty, revealed that there were moments she had to sell some of her gold jewellery to keep up with the cost of her son’s education abroad.

In an emotional message shared on social media, Okeowo reflected on the difficult journey that culminated in her son’s graduation from the University of Edmonton, describing it as a testimony of faith, sacrifice and perseverance.

She disclosed that many people often wonder why she does not attend social events frequently, explaining that virtually all her income had been channelled towards funding her son’s education overseas.

“I don’t know if people notice that I don’t attend too many parties. I can’t. Every kobo that comes into my account is already allocated. International student fees abroad is not moi-moi,” she wrote.

The actress recounted some of the most painful moments of the journey, including occasions when she and her son broke down in tears during video calls because of the financial and emotional pressure they faced.

“Should I talk about the days I had to sell some of my gold jewellery to pay school fees? The days my son and I would stay on video calls crying?” she said.

Despite the challenges, Okeowo expressed gratitude to God for seeing her family through the difficult years and bringing her son to graduation day.

“From the little boy I once held so tightly to the young man standing tall today, God has been faithful,” she wrote.

The actress used the occasion to encourage single parents struggling to raise their children without support, urging them not to give up despite the difficulties.

“I am sharing this to encourage single parents out there doing it all alone. Don’t give up,” she added.

Her emotional revelation resonated with many social media users, who congratulated her on her son’s achievement and praised her dedication as a mother.
