The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, says no fewer than 11 persons, have died in 19 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in the state between May 24 and 30.

The command’s spokesperson, Odunsi Afolabi, told newsmen on Tuesday in Ota, that 48 others sustained varying degrees of injuries within the period under review.

Odunsi explained that the total number of people involved in the 19 crashes were 123, while 64 escaped unhurt.

He attributed the causes of most of the road crashes to speeding, wrongful overtaking, reckless driving and tyre burst, among others.

“The FRSC is appealing to motorists to adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations to minimise unnecessary loss of lives in the state. We are also urging them to cooperate with FRSC personnel and other sister agencies in making our road safer for the motoring public.” he said.

Odunsi reiterated the corps’ commitment to enforcing traffic rules to prevent unavoidable crashes, as well as public enlightenment with a view to educating motorists on safety.
