"I saw a photo from a journalist which made me a little bit worried and concerned," Tuchel said.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted he is concerned about the condition of the pitch for his side’s World Cup warm-up clash against New Zealand, raising fears over possible injuries ahead of the tournament.

The German coach spoke after reports emerged that the playing surface at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, had only been laid about a week ago.

Photos of the pitch appeared to show uneven sections, prompting questions about whether it would be suitable for an international match so close to the start of the World Cup.

“I saw a photo from a journalist which made me a little bit worried and concerned,” Tuchel said.

Despite his concerns, the England boss insisted the pitch would not influence his team selection for Saturday’s friendly.

“It will not affect my team selection. I heard it should be OK. Let’s decide when we are there,” he added.

Tuchel revealed his plan is still to split his squad into two teams and give each group 45 minutes of action as England continue preparations for the World Cup.

The Three Lions arrived in Florida for a training camp ahead of the tournament and will face New Zealand before taking on Costa Rica in their final warm-up game.

Meanwhile, Tuchel moved to ease concerns over captain Harry Kane, describing the Bayern Munich striker as being in “top shape” despite concerns over the demanding weather conditions in the United States.

“He’s ready to go. We don’t have to worry about him at all,” Tuchel said.

England begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 17 before further Group L matches against Ghana and Panama.
