Fashion Critique: GoldenHouseOfFab at Fashion Week Yorkshire 2025

GoldenHouseOfFab’s presentation at Fashion Week Yorkshire on 8 November 2025 showcased a designer with a clear passion for bold colours, dramatic silhouettes, and statement-making fashion. The collection demonstrated creativity and confidence, although some design choices could have been refined to create an even stronger impact.
The green-and-pink ruffle gown was one of the most eye-catching pieces on the runway. The fitted bodice created a flattering shape, while the layered pink skirt brought movement and energy to the look. The contrast between the dark green and vibrant pink was unexpected and memorable. However, the large volume of ruffles dominated the lower half of the dress, making the design feel slightly heavy. Reducing some of the layers or varying the size of the ruffles could have created a more balanced silhouette and allowed the craftsmanship of the bodice to stand out more clearly.
The red couture gown successfully delivered drama and glamour. The lace corset detail added elegance, while the cascading ruffles created a strong runway presence. The rich red colour enhanced the overall luxury feel of the garment. Despite its impact, the dress contained several competing focal points, including the sheer neckline, lace bodice, oversized bow detail, and heavily layered skirt. Simplifying one or two of these elements may have resulted in a cleaner and more sophisticated design. The bow, in particular, could have been smaller or repositioned to maintain visual harmony throughout the garment.
The floral ball gown highlighted the designer’s playful and artistic side. The colourful floral appliqués around the waist introduced texture and individuality, while the dramatic pink skirt created a memorable silhouette. The fitted bodice also provided a strong foundation for the design. However, the transition between the lace bodice, floral embellishments, and oversized skirt appeared slightly abrupt. A softer blending of these elements, perhaps through additional floral detailing extending into the skirt or bodice, could have improved the overall flow of the garment. The floral decorations were attractive but could have been arranged more selectively to avoid drawing attention away from the dress’s elegant structure.
Across the collection, GoldenHouseOfFab showed a strong understanding of colour, volume, and visual impact. The designer’s willingness to take creative risks is commendable and helped the collection stand out on the runway. Future collections could benefit from greater restraint in certain areas, allowing individual design details to shine without competing for attention. Nevertheless, the showcase demonstrated originality, ambition, and a distinctive creative voice that continues to evolve within the fashion industry.
