Real Madrid have completed the signing of Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva on a two-year contract following his departure from Manchester City.

The Spanish giants announced the deal on Wednesday, confirming that the 31-year-old will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 30, 2028.

Silva joined Madrid as a free agent after bringing an end to a highly successful nine-year spell at Manchester City, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s finest midfielders.

The Portuguese star made 459 appearances for City after arriving from Monaco in 2017, scoring 76 goals and helping the club win 15 major trophies.

His honours include four consecutive Premier League titles between 2021 and 2024, the UEFA Champions League as part of City’s historic treble-winning campaign in 2023, and a domestic quadruple in the 2018/19 season.

The move is the latest in Madrid’s squad rebuild under newly appointed coach Jose Mourinho, who was brought back by club president Florentino Perez earlier this month after the club endured two trophyless seasons.

Madrid have also strengthened their squad with the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth €55 million.

The Spanish giants are also reportedly monitoring Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate and Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries as they seek further reinforcements ahead of the new season.
