The last is yet to heard over alleged diversion of Local Government funds, during the tenure of the immediate-past Deputy Governor of Kano state, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
Gwarzo who resigned his position as Deputy to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, doubled as the Commissioner of Local Government Affairs during his tenure as the second citizen of Kano state.
Gwarzo is now the governorship candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has come out in full force to wrestle power from his former boss, Governor Yusuf, who is seeking a second term under the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), ahead 2027 election circle.
The spokesperson to Governor Yusuf, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, had recently claimed that funds from Local Government Councils were channeled to the former Deputy Governor through his son, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam when he was in office.
However, the NDC governorship candidate has challenged Governor Yusuf Kano to produce evidence of the alleged diversion of Local Government funds through his Son, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam.
Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Spokesperson to Comrade Gwarzo, described the allegations as false, charging Governor Yusuf to provide concrete evidence to support his allegations that Comrade Gwarzo received funds from Local Government Councils through his son, Mujahid Aminu Abdussalam.
Comrade Gwarzo described the allegations as, “baseless, outrageous, and a totally ridiculous.
“The allegations are mere figments of the Governor’s imagination, lacking any basis. We therefore categorically challenge the accuser to provide credible and verifiable evidence to substantiate these callous claims. Mere accusations, no matter how often repeated in the media, do not amount to proof.”
Gwarzo maintained that throughout his public service career, he upheld the principles of transparency, accountability and the Rule of Law.
He expressed confidence that the truth would ultimately prevail and urged members of the public to disregard what he described as, “unfounded allegations.”
