2027: We’ll teach Makinde a lesson in Oyo – Fayose

Quick Read

“We will teach Makinde a political lesson. If you respect me, you will get all my values and support, but if you disrespect me, you will get the downside of Fayose,” he said.

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has threatened to teach Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, a political lesson ahead of the 2027 elections.

Fayose, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television, accused Makinde of destroying the South-West structure of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and taking over his political base.

The former governor said he was not the kind of politician who could be taken for granted, warning that anyone who disrespected him would face the political consequences.

“We will teach Makinde a political lesson. If you respect me, you will get all my values and support, but if you disrespect me, you will get the downside of Fayose,” he said.

“I’m not a politician that is taken for granted.”

Fayose also accused Makinde of betraying political trust within the South-West PDP, saying the Oyo governor’s alleged takeover of party structures in the region would not go unchallenged.

“Makinde destroyed the South-West Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and took my structure. When we are in politics, we are meant to be fair,” he said.

The former governor further said Makinde’s reported presidential ambition was a major political mistake.

According to him, while Makinde has the right to contest for President, he should not betray those who trusted him politically.

“Declaring for presidency was his undoing. He has the right to contest for president but we don’t betray trust. Elections are not far away again. We will get there,” Fayose added.

In a dramatic remark, Fayose said Makinde had “stolen the land of the deities,” warning that the deities would eventually retrieve their land from him.

His comments signal a deepening crisis within the PDP in the South-West as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
