Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC) has said he is not bothered about his remand in Kuje Correctional Centre by Justice Mohammed Umar of Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday.

Sowore said this in a post on his social media handles in reaction to the court ruling in which he was ordered Sowore to be kept in Kuje correctional centre

The judge had remanded Sowore in Kuje prison until when his motion for stay of the order for revocation of his bail and bench warrant for his arrest will be heard and determined on June 24

Recall that the Judge had on June 16 revoked a bail granted to Sowore following his failure to appear in court his trial.

Justice Mohammed Umar, in a ruling on an oral application made by the lawyer to the Department of State Services (DSS), Akinkolu Kehinde, SAN, also issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Justice Umar also dismissed Sowore’s earlier application seeking the judge’s recusal from the case on the ground of alleged bias.

However, Sowore’s new lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika, filed a motion for the stay of the order of the revocation of the bail on Monday.

Reacting to the development, Sowore said the Judge ordered his remand in Kuje Prison, though he told him that he was absent because he was consulting with his new legal team led by Olumide-Fusika, SAN.

The presidential candidate added that Olumide-Fusika also told the court that his absence was because he was consulting with him.

Sowore said in spite of the information, the judge proceeded to order his remand.

He, however, said he was not bothered by the development while urging his supporters to remain steadfast.

“I need hardly say that I am the least bothered by this development.

“Imprisonment has never defeated a just cause, and it never will.

“I urge the Nigerian people and all our comrades to remain resolute, steadfast, and unyielding in the quest for a genuine revolution that will liberate our country from oppression, injustice, and misrule.

“The struggle continues. Victory is certain,” Sowore who is also the publisher of Sahara Reporters said.

The DSS is prosecuting Sowore for allegedly making false claims against the person of President Bola Tinubu by referring to him as “a criminal” in a post he made on his “X” and Facebook accounts.
