Political commentator Dare Adeleke has launched a scathing attack on former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, describing him as "not mentally stable" and accusing him of attempting to distort facts over the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Political commentator Dare Adeleke has launched a scathing attack on former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, describing him as “not mentally stable” and accusing him of attempting to distort facts over the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Adeleke questioned Fayose’s recent criticism of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, arguing that the former governor lacked the moral authority to accuse others of destabilising the PDP.

“Any discerning observer who watched Ayo Fayose’s latest tirade against Governor Seyi Makinde would be compelled to question the mental and political state of the vagabond son of Ekiti,” Adeleke said.

He alleged that Fayose had openly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before the current internal crisis in the PDP, making his recent comments against Makinde contradictory.

“For a man who, as far back as 2023—long before the present crisis in the PDP—openly declared his allegiance to the APC’s national leader at the time, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to now accuse another person of causing the balkanisation of the PDP reveals the depth of delusion that stomach infrastructure, political patronage and the spoils of opportunism have created,” he stated.

Adeleke further accused the former Ekiti governor of working against the PDP during his time in the state, alleging that Fayose organised party congresses without the approval of the state, zonal, or national leadership.

According to him, the PDP later conducted what he described as legitimate congresses after rejecting the earlier exercises.

He also alleged that Fayose pursued court actions that frustrated efforts to restore stability within the party in Ekiti State.

The Ibadan-based commentator claimed Fayose subsequently aligned himself with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing him of appearing alongside APC leaders during election campaigns and publicly criticising the PDP.

Adeleke also warned Fayose against what he described as attempts to interfere in Oyo State politics.

“Oyo is not Ekiti,” he said.

“The people of Oyo are politically conscious and cannot be manipulated through political thuggery, empty populism or so-called stomach infrastructure.”

He argued that Governor Makinde enjoys widespread support in Oyo State because of what he described as the governor’s achievements in infrastructure development, institutional reforms, and governance.

According to Adeleke, Makinde remains the leader of the PDP in the South-West.

“Seyi Makinde remains the leader of the PDP in the South-West today and will remain so beyond the 2027 elections,” he said.

He further alleged that Fayose and some of his political associates had become increasingly isolated within the party.

Adeleke concluded by accusing the former governor of placing personal interests above the fortunes of the PDP, stating that “history has never been kind to men who betray their own people and political family for personal gain.”

Fayose had not responded to Adeleke’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
