“This Certificate of Return is not just a document; it is a symbol of the trust and confidence that our party members and the people have placed in me. I accept it with humility, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to serve,” she said.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has formally secured the Peoples Democratic Party ticket for Kogi Central Senatorial District, setting the stage for another major political battle in one of Kogi State’s most watched constituencies.
Akpoti-Uduaghan received her Certificate of Return on Wednesday at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja, confirming her as the party’s candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
The certificate was presented during a ceremony attended by the PDP National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed; National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and other candidates of the party.
Shortly after receiving the certificate, Akpoti-Uduaghan said the document was more than a political endorsement, describing it as a symbol of trust, responsibility and renewed commitment to the people.
“This Certificate of Return is not just a document; it is a symbol of the trust and confidence that our party members and the people have placed in me. I accept it with humility, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to serve,” she said.
The lawmaker, who currently represents Kogi Central in the Senate, said her focus would remain effective representation, good governance and policies that improve the lives of Nigerians.
She also urged PDP members to remain united and committed as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
“The PDP remains a platform of hope for millions of Nigerians. We must continue to stand together, engage our communities, and work tirelessly to earn the trust and confidence of the people,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said candidates and leaders of the party must inspire public confidence through service, integrity and genuine commitment to the welfare of citizens.
“Our responsibility as leaders and candidates is to inspire confidence through service, integrity, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of our people,” she stated.
The senator also called for issue-based campaigns and stronger grassroots engagement, saying Nigerians expect leaders who will prioritise development, justice, accountability and economic opportunities.
According to her, the PDP must continue to deepen its relationship with citizens and prove that it is ready to confront the country’s social and economic challenges through people-centred policies.
The presentation of the certificate signals the formal start of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s renewed push to consolidate support across Kogi Central ahead of the election.
With her candidacy now confirmed, she is expected to intensify consultations with party leaders, stakeholders and constituents as the race gathers momentum.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, a lawyer and politician, first gained national attention through her advocacy for transparency and accountability in governance.
She has remained one of the most prominent political figures in Kogi State, with public interventions on infrastructure, education, women empowerment and social justice.
Her emergence as PDP candidate is expected to set up another closely watched contest in Kogi Central, a district long regarded as one of the most politically significant zones in the state.
