New Number Plate: Don’t Patronise Touts, FRSC Warns

Dr. Kayode Olagunju, the FRSC’s Transport Standardisation Officer, has warned prospective applicants for the new driver’s licence and number plates not to patronise touts or obtain them by proxy.

Olagunju gave the warning on Tuesday while delivering a lecture at the monthly meeting of the Abuja branch of the Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni Association.

He said that a new driver’s licence obtained through touts or by proxy, under the new arrangement, would be detected and rendered invalid.

Olagunju said the new driver’s licence and number plate would lead to the creation of a credible database for planning and enhanced national security.

He said the new number plate was capable of reducing the incidence of car theft and combating criminal activities.

Olagunju stressed that the cost of migrating from the old plate to the new one remained N10,000, while the new number plate cost N15,000; vehicle licence, N6,000; and motorcycle licence, N3,000.
