United States President Donald Trump has unveiled a redesigned commemorative US passport bearing his image as America prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of its independence.

The limited-edition passport, described by the White House as the “Patriot Passport,” features a stern-looking portrait of Trump inside the document, alongside text from the Declaration of Independence.

Trump announced the new design on his Truth Social platform, writing: “The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!’”

The passport shows Trump leaning over the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office with clenched fists, while his signature appears beneath the image with the words “United States of America.”

On the opposite page is artwork showing the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, with flowing American flags and the inscription “United States of America 250.”

The State Department said the commemorative passport was created to honour America’s 250th anniversary and will be available only while supplies last.

Officials said the document will be issued through in-person appointments at the Washington Passport Agency and selected special passport events.

However, Americans applying online, by mail, through US embassies or consulates, or at other passport agencies will still receive the standard passport.

The new design has already triggered debate in the United States, with critics accusing Trump of putting his personal stamp on a key federal document.

Supporters, however, see it as a patriotic tribute to America’s founding and its 250-year journey as an independent nation.

The passport is the latest in a series of symbolic moves linked to Trump’s second term and America’s independence anniversary celebrations.
