Sudan Peace Government pledges nondiscriminatory aid access for El Obeid

The Sudan Peace Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches all civilians in El Obeid without discrimination or obstruction amid ongoing security and humanitarian challenges in the region.

The assurance was contained in a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Official Spokesperson of the Peace Government, Khalid Danaa, following deliberations by the Council of Ministers.

According to the statement, the government remains committed to protecting humanitarian operations and guaranteeing unrestricted access to vulnerable populations.

“The Government reaffirms its full commitment to facilitating, protecting, and ensuring the unhindered and non-discriminatory delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need,” the Council of Ministers said.

The administration said it would continue to work closely with international partners to coordinate relief efforts and improve assistance to affected communities.

The statement noted that humanitarian activities would be carried out “in coordination with the international community and international, United Nations, and regional humanitarian organisations” to ensure aid reaches those most in need.

The Peace Government also disclosed that it is engaging with its partners on urgent measures aimed at enhancing civilian protection and guaranteeing safe access for humanitarian workers operating in conflict-affected areas.

According to the government, ongoing discussions are focused on establishing practical mechanisms for the delivery of aid and the creation of secure passage routes for civilians and relief agencies.

The latest commitment comes as humanitarian organisations continue to raise concerns over the growing needs of civilians in Sudan, where prolonged conflict has displaced millions and strained access to essential services, food, and medical care.

Officials said protecting civilians and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian assistance remain top priorities as efforts continue to address the crisis in El Obeid and other affected regions.
