Justin Bieber in talks for historic FIFA World Cup Halftime show
Quick Read
If the deal is sealed, Bieber will join a major lineup already linked to the show, including Madonna, Shakira and K-pop group BTS, who were confirmed in May.
Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber, is reportedly in talks to perform at the first-ever FIFA World Cup Halftime Show, just months after his record-breaking Coachella headline concerts.
The 32-year-old Grammy winner is being eyed for the major performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, according to reports.
The final match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
If the deal is sealed, Bieber will join a major lineup already linked to the show, including Madonna, Shakira and K-pop group BTS, who were confirmed in May.
The performance would mark another massive stage for Bieber after his historic Coachella run earlier this year.
The World Cup Halftime Show will also carry a charitable purpose, as it is expected to benefit the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The fund aims to expand access to quality education and football for children across the world.
According to the official target, the fund hopes to raise $100m by the time of the final match.
Bieber’s team has not yet publicly confirmed the report.
The 2026 World Cup has already featured several big-name performers, including Katy Perry and Tyla.
The tournament kicked off on June 11 with opening ceremonies across Mexico, Canada and the United States.
The United States is hosting the tournament for the first time in 32 years, alongside Mexico and Canada.
Bieber’s possible World Cup appearance comes after he made history at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.
The singer performed on the festival’s main stage for two weekends, delivering songs from his latest album, Swag, alongside a medley of his biggest hits.
His Coachella set reportedly became the most-watched headline performance in the festival’s history, attracting about 147 million global views.
He was also reported to have earned more than $10m for the gig, making him one of the highest-paid Coachella performers ever.
Reports said Bieber negotiated directly with Goldenvoice, the festival’s promoter, in what was described as a major career power move.
A source close to the singer previously said the Coachella performance and the success of Swag marked the beginning of a new era for Bieber.
The insider said the singer was now “fully in the driver’s seat” of his career.
Bieber released Swag, his surprise seventh studio album, in July 2025.
He followed it weeks later with the deluxe album, Swag II, released in September.
News of his possible World Cup Halftime Show appearance also comes days after the singer made a surprise cameo in the sports world.
Bieber appeared at the NHL Draft in Buffalo, New York, on June 26, where he helped the Toronto Maple Leafs make their first overall selection.
“I’ve been a Leafs fan since I was just a little boy,” Bieber said as he walked to the stage.
“These nights are so special. I’m so grateful to be here.”
He then announced Gavin McKenna as the team’s pick.
“Mr McKenna, we’d like to draft you to the Toronto Maple Leafs,” Bieber said.
Bieber’s wife, Hailey Bieber, was not seen at the event.
The singer and the Rhode skincare founder married in 2018 and are parents to their son, Jack Blues, who will turn two in August.
If Bieber accepts the World Cup offer, the performance would place him on one of the biggest stages in global sport and entertainment, coming shortly after a Coachella comeback that reminded fans of his pulling power.
