Ghana have been eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in their Round of 32 clash at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Friday.
The Black Stars struggled to create clear chances and failed to register a shot on target as Colombia controlled large periods of the game and secured victory through an early goal from Jhon Arias in the 14th minute.
Colombia dominated possession and attacking play throughout the match, but were wasteful in front of goal, missing several opportunities to extend their lead despite registering eight shots on target.
Ghana’s best early moment came when midfielder Thomas Partey fired narrowly wide in the opening minute, but the team failed to maintain momentum and were largely contained for the rest of the match.
The result ends Ghana’s World Cup campaign, with the African side unable to recover after falling behind early and struggling to break down Colombia’s structured defence.
Colombia will now face Switzerland in the last 16 on Tuesday in Vancouver as they continue their push for a quarter-final place.
