Founder of the One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has sent a strong message to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, urging him to take decisive action against the rising wave of xenophobic violence in the country or consider stepping down from office.
Maharaj Ji expressed concern over recent attacks targeting African migrants in South Africa, accusing the Ramaphosa administration of failing to provide the leadership needed to protect lives, businesses and the ideals of African unity.
In a statement made available to journalists, the spiritual leader said the South African president had not done enough to address the economic and social challenges that continue to fuel hostility against foreign nationals.
Addressing Ramaphosa directly, Maharaj Ji said the response of the South African government came only after considerable damage had been done to victims and their livelihoods.
He stressed that the vision of a united Africa could only be achieved when leaders demonstrate fairness, justice and equal protection for all Africans, irrespective of their country of origin.
Maharaj Ji further called on the South African Parliament to examine Ramaphosa’s leadership through a vote of no confidence if urgent measures are not taken to curb xenophobic violence.
He also appealed to the African Union to closely monitor developments in South Africa and reassess the country’s commitment to the principles of Pan-Africanism.
Expressing sympathy for victims of the attacks, Maharaj Ji urged African governments to provide assistance to affected citizens and businesses while advocating policies that promote peace, inclusion and mutual respect across the continent.
According to him, Africa needs leaders who place the dignity, welfare and security of all people above political interests and divisions.
