Quick Read

With his return to Chippa United, Nwabali will be aiming to play regularly again and work his way back into the Nigerian national team ahead of future international competitions.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has returned to South African club Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season, five months after leaving the team.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper rejoined the club after spending several months away from competitive football following his departure in February 2026.

His absence from club football affected his position in the Nigerian national team.

Chippa United announced his return on Sunday through its official social media pages.

The club said it was pleased to welcome Nwabali back to the team after his time away from football.

Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 and became widely known after his impressive performances for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles finished second.

His lack of regular club football in recent months affected his playing opportunities and led to him losing his place in the Super Eagles squad.

With his return to Chippa United, Nwabali will be aiming to play regularly again and work his way back into the Nigerian national team ahead of future international competitions.
