“I have accepted it as the will of God. That is how it is supposed to be, as leadership comes from God,” Jatau said.
Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has accepted his defeat in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency.
Jatau lost the APC ticket to Daniel Oga Ogazi, the lawmaker representing Kokona East Constituency in the state House of Assembly.
The Speaker confirmed his acceptance of the result when members of the Nasarawa APC leadership visited his office in Lafia on Monday.
He described the outcome as the will of God and said he had moved on.
“I have accepted it as the will of God. That is how it is supposed to be, as leadership comes from God,” Jatau said.
“I have moved on. We should move forward for the victory of the party.”
Jatau thanked the party officials for their visit and assured them of his support for the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections.
“Today, I received the state APC chairman and other officials. They are here to appreciate me. They are also here to console me for what happened in the last APC primaries,” he said.
The Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to the unity and success of the party in Nasarawa State.
The APC State Working Committee was led on the visit by its chairman, Aliyu Bello.
Bello said the party visited Jatau to commend him for accepting the primary result and supporting the successful candidates.
“After the APC primaries, despite the outcome, the Speaker came out clearly to identify with the party, the governor and all the winners,” Bello said.
He described Jatau’s reaction to the defeat as an example of maturity and sportsmanship worthy of emulation.
