President Bola Tinubu has said his administration is committed to delivering results for Nigerians and does not believe in making excuses.
The president made the statement on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Bwari Township water supply network in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The project is one of several initiatives launched to mark his third year in office.
Tinubu was represented at the event by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. He said the Renewed Hope Agenda is more than a slogan, describing it as a commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians through effective governance.
According to him, when his administration came into office three years ago, it promised to ensure that development reaches every part of the country, including cities, satellite towns and rural communities.
The president said the new water project fulfils a promise made to residents of Bwari and nearby communities. He noted that a similar project was recently completed in Karu, where water and road infrastructure were provided.
Tinubu recalled that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike had presented him with a plan to improve water supply in the area. After reviewing the proposal, he discovered that many residents of Bwari, Ushafa and neighbouring communities had relied on untreated boreholes and streams for years.
He said the situation was unacceptable because access to clean water is a basic right and not a luxury.
Tinubu explained that the government approved the project and mobilised resources to complete the 98-kilometre pipeline network, which will provide treated water to thousands of residents.
He stressed that his administration is focused on solving problems and delivering projects that improve the lives of Nigerians.
The president also said the project would help reduce water-borne diseases and end the frequent need for residents to spend money digging boreholes.
According to him, connecting Bwari and surrounding communities to treated water sources from the Usuma Dam will improve public health and living conditions in the area.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing essential infrastructure and ensuring that more communities benefit from development across the country.
