Spain and Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was the target of an attempted burglary just hours after helping Spain secure a place in the FIFA World Cup final.

The 19-year-old winger played a key role in Spain’s 2-0 semi-final victory over France, winning the penalty that helped propel the 2010 world champions into the tournament’s showpiece match.

According to reports from Spain, two hooded suspects attempted to break into Yamal’s luxury home on the outskirts of Barcelona in the early hours following the match.

The pair were reportedly spotted on a wall surrounding the property before they could gain entry. Yamal’s private security team quickly activated emergency protocols after detecting the intruders through the property’s surveillance system.

The suspects fled the scene after realizing they had been captured on security cameras.

Catalan police responded to the incident and have launched an investigation into the attempted burglary.

Authorities have now opened a case for attempted robbery and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspects.

The attempted break-in came just weeks after Yamal gave fans a glimpse inside his £9.5 million mansion in a house tour video shared before departing for the World Cup.

Despite the security scare, there have been no reports of injuries or property loss, and the Spain international is expected to remain focused on preparations for the World Cup final.
