Ukraine drone strike kills seven in Russian attack

Quick Read

“Seven night-shift employees were killed when enemy UAVs hit a Wildberries logistics centre,” Pervyshov said, adding that 24 people were injured in the strike.

Seven people have been killed and 24 others wounded after a Ukrainian drone strike hit a logistics centre in western Russia, Russian authorities said on Saturday.

The attack targeted a Wildberries logistics facility in the town of Kotovsk, in Russia’s Tambov region, according to regional governor Evgeny Pervyshov.

“Seven night-shift employees were killed when enemy UAVs hit a Wildberries logistics centre,” Pervyshov said, adding that 24 people were injured in the strike.

Russian e-commerce company Wildberries confirmed that two of its logistics complexes, located in Kotovsk and Elektrostal in the Moscow region, came under attack.

The company said a fire caused by the strike at the Tambov facility had been brought under control, while emergency crews continued efforts at the Elektrostal site.

The attack came as Russia’s capital, Moscow, faced another wave of drone strikes overnight.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 370 drones were launched towards the Moscow region, with air defence systems intercepting most of them before they reached their targets.

“Most were neutralised by air defence forces at distant approaches. Sixty-four enemy UAVs were destroyed on approach to Moscow,” Sobyanin said.

Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on targets inside Russia in recent months, describing the strikes as retaliation for Moscow’s continued bombardment of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure since the start of the war.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts led by the United States to end the conflict have stalled, with Washington’s attention increasingly focused on other global security issues.

The latest strikes highlight the continued escalation of drone warfare between both sides as the war enters another critical phase.
